Eli Wise – “Ghosts and Logic”

“Ghosts and Logic” gives us ten brilliant minutes of music from Eli Wise. After nearly a decade away from recording to raise his two kids and work in education, Eli Wise decided it was time to step back into the studio. Re-learning his singing voice as a trans man brought plenty of changes, but finding quiet moments late at night gave him the space to put together three excellent tracks. Inspired by artists like Paul Simon, Amanda Palmer, and The Shins, he pairs catchy acoustic guitar work with a crisp tenor voice and storytelling that hits close to home.

The opener, “Everyone Goes Through Something Like This, But That Doesn’t Help”, turns a modern tech headache into a funny, relatable song about losing all your written work when a computer crashes. Up next, “Out In The Cold” takes a driving, sci-fi approach to political arguments. Rounding out the set, “I Had To Choose” lands as an uplifting anthem about discovering who you are and stepping into your own voice. Eli Wise manages to talk about big life questions without ever letting things get heavy, using humor and clever lyrics to keep the energy bright.

“Ghosts and Logic” encourages us to stop dwelling on the past, let go of overthinking, and live in the moment, it is a gentle reminder to slow down, accept big changes, and maybe even write our thoughts down using good old paper and pen.
