The House Flies – “Derelict Crawl”

“Derelict Crawl” hits with a heavy, steady pulse right from the start. The House Flies build this single around a driving rhythm and thick layers of guitars that grab your attention right away. It feels raw and direct, leaving out any unnecessary polish.

The vocals are impressive and easy to follow; the lyrics drift through grounded images, touching on dial tones, worn leather, summer heat, and physical collapse. I just love how the band pairs those dark elements with an energetic structure that moves forward with plain confidence, it’s one of the best releases I’ve heard this week so far.

Having Burnie Eckhardt on guitar alongside Alex Riggen, bassist Ozzie Woods, and drummer Nick Pompou gives the four-piece a full, solid punch. The track balances quieter spots against louder guitar sections, giving everything breathing room before kicking back in with full force. It’s a great preview of what is coming on their upcoming album, “Lions and Ore”.
