Saint Nick the Lesser – “Growing up, Growing out”

Saint Nick the Lesser’s “Growing up, Growing out”, released just last month. The project was years in the making, having started back in late 2021, and it shows the dedication behind every track, and trust me, every track needs your attention. Recorded at Sivraj Studios in North Hollywood with producers Ryan Jarvis and Rob Maile, the album benefits from a collaborative process that pushed the music beyond what the artist originally imagined.

Influences from punk, ska, and anti-folk are felt across the record, with nods to artists like Laura Jane Grace, Chuck Regan, Tim Barry, and Frank Turner. That mix of inspiration grounds the album while still giving Saint Nick the Lesser room to experiment. Two standouts are “Amethyst” and “Cassandra”, tracks that feature live string arrangements, adding a new layer of depth to the sound. What ties the whole album together is the original and unique songs, written over a decade and united by themes of self-discovery and embracing life’s uncertainties. For me, this is what makes the release more interesting.

The cover artwork captures this energy perfectly, with its hand-drawn outline of a figure suggesting growth and expansion beyond old limits. Follow Saint Nick the Lesser on social media to stay updated on shows and future releases coming in 2025.
