WhereIsFenix – “Curiosity”

WhereIsFenix is an artist born in Queens who lives in Milan today. He put out an 18-track album named ‘Curiosity’ on his own label, Legacy System. I sat down to listen to these songs and discovered a massive mix of house, minimal, electronica, and jazz influences.

The album divides neatly into three chapters and this is what makes it unique. The first chapter uses stripped rhythms and quiet club spaces to set a mood of discovery. The second chapter gets physical with raw energy built for the dancefloor. The final chapter turns inward with deep house sounds and personal audio recordings, bringing the focus closer to the people and places behind the art. It’s one of the best albums I discovered this month so far.

I enjoy how he brings different people together on this record. He worked with house music pioneer Robert Owens, alongside contemporary names like Patrick Mason, Dantiez Saunderson, and underground connection Boris Werner. While making these songs, he kept his live shows quiet and unannounced, playing special gigs that nobody advertised. All tracks need your attention, but my favorites are “Public Service Announcement” and “Pokuman Speaks (Interlude)”.

His life moving between New York, Milan, and other international cities shapes the rhythms and textures you hear. The music connects late night club movement with a personal view of the world, balancing physical power with quiet thought. You can grab the digital release right now or wait for the future vinyl version.
