OpCritical – “Not Alone”

“Not Alone” by OpCritical lands with a clear message and doesn’t waste time getting to it. The song pulls inspiration from Ohio, and you can hear that spirit right away and it feels like a response. The band takes that older protest energy and brings it into a very current space, which gives the track a sense of purpose that sticks with you after it ends.

The chorus, built around “together we’re not alone,” is simple in the best way. It’s the kind of line that’s easy to remember and easy to believe in, especially as the song builds around it. There’s a directness here that works. Nothing is buried or overly dressed up. It says what it wants to say and trusts the listener to meet it there.

The music video adds another layer without overcomplicating things and the image of a young girl watching things spiral out of control on screen hits hard, and the ending with the balloons is a nice shift in tone that leaves you with some hope instead of just heaviness. It ties back to the song’s core idea without spelling everything out.

I keep coming back to how grounded this feels and it’s just focused on connection, and that goes a long way. I’d say give it a listen, then go back and check out OpCritical’s earlier work too. They seem to have more to say. Definitely follow OpCritical and keep up with what’s next. What do you think when a song takes on something this direct?
