Lana Crow – “In Spirit”

Lana Crow’s In Spirit is one of those albums that makes you want to listen to every track, seven-track record, but it covers a lot of emotional ground without ever feeling cluttered. You can tell there’s a clear idea behind it, but it never comes across as heavy-handed.

From the opening track “I Do”, you can feel how talented Lana is, and there’s a sense that you’re stepping into something personal. The album moves between quieter, more reflective moments and brighter, more energetic ones, which keeps things interesting all the way through. “Orwellian Times” and “So Done” bring a bit more bite, while “What Brings You Back” and the title track lean into a softer, more introspective space.

One of the standout points is “Unknow the Known”. The decision to include the more original version here really pays off. It has a rawness that fits perfectly with the rest of the album and it sits nicely in the middle of the tracklist and kind of anchors everything around it. There’s also a nice sense of flow across the whole project. Even though each track has its own identity, nothing feels out of place. The shifts in mood feel natural, like moving through different parts of a day or even different stages of life. That idea of navigating highs and lows comes across clearly without needing to spell it out .

In Spirit feels thoughtful without being complicated. It’s easy to listen to, but it also gives you something to think about. That balance isn’t always easy to get right, and Lana Crow handles it well here.

I found myself going back to it more than I expected. It’s the kind of album that grows on you after a few listens. I’d definitely recommend checking out her earlier releases too if you haven’t already, and keeping up with what she does next.
