Adam Tilzer – “Cult Leader”

Adam Tilzer’s “Cult Leader” is loud, impressive, brutally funny, and somehow deeply personal without feeling self-important. From the first track, it’s clear he’s not here to hold your hand or ease you into anything. “Choking on Vomit” kicks things off with a jolt, and from there the album just keeps swinging between sharp anger, deadpan humor, and raw honesty. It sounds like a guy who’s spent a lot of time thinking, maybe too much, and finally decided to say it all out loud.
The songs don’t feel polished in a studio-perfect kind of way. They feel lived-in. Some are scrappy, some feel like long-held rants finally given rhythm, and others surprise you with quieter moments that sneak in real vulnerability. “The Best Fucking Plan” and “My Man” don’t pull punches. They’re frustrated and hilarious in that way where you’re laughing because it’s all a little too true. And “I’m Gonna Start a Cult” is the kind of anthem you didn’t know you needed until you hear it. It’s part joke, part manifesto, and completely committed.
