The Party After – “Blast Off”

The Party After are a trio of longtime friends from Omaha who have been playing together for about fifteen years and you can hear that connection in their new single “Blast Off”. It’s the kind of release that feels genuine, the sound of a group putting their shared history and energy into something that finally fits who they are. “Blast Off” is the lead single from their debut album Dopamine Machine.

The song looks at the darker side of chasing fame, using loud guitars and hard-hitting drums to send a message about what happens when you throw yourself into the spotlight without thinking about the cost. Even with that warning, the track has a spark running through it. There’s excitement in the sound, the rush of chasing dreams, and the chaos that comes with it.

Their mix of influences keeps the music interesting. Jared “Badsquatch” Gottberg brings in the spacey and emotional touch of Pink Floyd and Deftones. Tony “Bony Tates” Bates adds that smooth groove that comes from his love of 311 and Ghost. Derek “Fooligan” Talburt brings a wild edge that draws from both metal and hip-hop. Put that all together and you get what they call dystopian party rock, a label that actually fits once you’ve heard it.

They recorded “Blast Off” in Mexico City at Topetitud Estudios, which is part-owned by Tito Fuentes of Molotov. Leaving home helped them focus completely on the music, after the main sessions, Jared even stayed behind to finish the full album and another solo record. That kind of commitment says a lot about their drive.

If you like rock that’s loud, real, and full of energy, give “Blast Off” a listen. It’s a strong opening for Dopamine Machine and proof that The Party After are just getting started. Check out their other songs and follow them on social media to stay up to date on what they do next.
