The New Citizen Kane – “Causing A Commotion”

The New Citizen Kane’s latest EP, “Causing A Commotion”, is really worth every minute. The lead track, “Subconscious”, stands out right away. It leans into that weird, heady mix of falling for someone out of nowhere—messy, intense, and kind of addictive. The two radio versions play on that tension, with one giving the more composed, logical take and the other going full instinct and chaos. “Subconscious” is my favorite track of the EP.
The rest of the EP pulls in different sides of his style, “San Diego” is already a fan favorite, and it makes sense. It’s catchy without trying too hard. “Ratbag Joy” shows up in an alternate mix that brings a fresh angle, and “Bubble Gum Hot” is that perfect hit of bittersweet nostalgia. You also get a few reworks of older tracks, which feel more like reflections than remixes, and this is what makes this release special.
For me, it’s a fun, slightly hazy EP that keeps things interesting without losing focus. If you’re into synthy, disco-leaning electronic music that actually has a bit of heart, it’s worth checking out. Follow The New Citizen Kane on socials to catch what he’s dropping next in 2025.
