Me & Melancholy – “FEM.”

“Dance with me” kicks off “FEM.” with a big burst of late-80s alternative dancefloor energy and underneath that excitement, there’s a feeling of uncertainty, showing the urge to stop overthinking and just go with the flow. It’s one of those songs you want to hear again and again.

The mood shifts quickly when “Lost in you” brings everything into a colder, more industrial sound and with mechanical drums and heavy bass, the song explores what it feels like to be so caught up in someone else that the line between devotion and losing yourself starts to blur.

“Broken Souls” and “Reputation” deserve your full attention from start to finish. “Squidso” moves into a surreal world filled with shadows and whispers, and it’s my favorite of the entire album. “The One I Am” responds with defiance, refusing to disappear just because someone else ignores you; “All Love Is Gone” looks at what’s left after promises are broken. “Just Like the Sun” gives a brief moment of clarity, and “No Permission” turns resistance into a repeated message that you do not need anyone’s approval to love, speak, or write. What impresses me the most is that this is not his first album, he has a few more that have the same creativity.

The last track, “Ghosts in the Mirror”, looks inward as memory and regret mix together. Rather than pretending everything is resolved, Me & Melancholy allows grief, anger, celebration, and loneliness to exist all at once. From the moment I discovered this release, I was excited to share it with you.
