Mark Springer – “Sleep of Reason”

“Sleep of Reason” by Mark Springer is just impressive and will grab your full attention from the first track to the last one. The Sacconi String Quartet, with piano genius by Springer, and surprisingly Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant on vocals, this double vinyl masterpiece is inspired by Goya’s etchings. You’ll find yourself lost in the dark, atmospheric landscape they create together, perfectly capturing the “monsters” of our digital age just as Goya did in his time.
The album is made up of three distinct, yet connected movements, the opening track “Phantoms and Monsters” immediately establishes the brooding intensity. Tennant’s vocals give the classical framework an unexpected but welcome pop sensibility, while Springer’s piano work is both technically impressive and emotionally raw.
The thing that makes this album special is that it bridges different musical worlds. You don’t have to be a classical music buff to enjoy the accessible beauty and contemporary themes woven throughout.
I highly recommend you give it a serious listen from the first track to the last one and follow Mark Springer on his social platforms to see what brilliant musical mind he comes up with next in 2025.
