Driving around Auckland all day in a white van delivering catering gives a person plenty of time to think. For big HUNCH, that mundane daily routine became the exact spark needed for his second single, White Cadillac. Instead of getting bogged down by the workday grind, the emerging hip-hop artist spent his hours behind the wheel cooking up lyrics about a much more glamorous reality, daydreaming about cruising through California in a luxury ride.

To bring this vision to life, he spent multiple studio sessions collaborating with engineer C.brook at his Auckland studio. They experimented with different ideas until they found the perfect soundscape to match the song title. Heavily inspired by West Coast legends like Kendrick Lamar, Blxst, YG, and Snoop Dogg, the track is built on a bouncy, vibey California type beat. It perfectly carries the fun, positive energy of the lyrics. It makes you want to bounce along immediately, which is why it became an instant favorite among his friends and peers. It’s one of the most talented artists I’ve covered in the past couple of weeks.

I love how authentic this feels. You can tell he is having a blast rapping, and that genuine happiness is completely infectious.
