Elina Filice – “Bury Me”
My new favorite Toronto songwriter Elina Filice, has a fantastic track, ” Bury Me”, which was released on June 5, and it is just a massive amount of fun. She mixes a nostalgic punk pop vibe with modern alt pop energy, creating a catchy anthem that feels absolutely perfect for summer. It packs a punch with sticky melodies and great rhythms that keep the momentum moving fast.
The songwriting is what really hooks you. It is about a hilariously real story involving an old Molson Canadian t-shirt that an ex partner stole. It became a running joke about who actually owned it, culminating in the ex joking that she would have to be buried in the shirt just so Elina could never get it back. It starts as a funny story about a missing piece of clothing and builds into a heart wrenching realization about finding the kind of deep love you never want to take back. It is a wonderful look at how ordinary, everyday items end up holding our secrets, fears, and dreams.
I love how it balances soulful storytelling with a high energy sound. It feels incredibly genuine. You should definitely check out her previous releases to hear more of her style. Make sure to follow Elina Filice to stay updated about new releases in the rest of this year.
