Kaylene – “Bittersweet”

Hope you’re having a relaxing evening. Today, I’m very excited to share with you Irish country-pop artist Kaylene and her debut EP “Bittersweet”, released on February 27.

Kaylene grew up in Ireland and now lives in the UAE, and this release arrives after several years of steady work behind the scenes. For the past two and a half years she balanced a full-time teaching job with a heavy live schedule, often performing several nights each week while putting this project together piece by piece. That kind of routine says a lot about how serious she is about her music, and it adds extra meaning to this first EP.

The five songs look at growth, identity, love, and emotional change. The title “Bittersweet” fits the mood of the project because the songs reflect that moment when life moves forward while part of you still holds on to the past. The EP plays like a short snapshot from an important time in her life.

Kaylene worked with Toronto producer Roy Hamilton III while shaping the music over more than a year, and the result is a focused and thoughtful debut. The project was funded and released independently, which makes it even more impressive considering everything that went into building it.

“Bittersweet” introduces Kaylene in a clear and honest way while giving listeners a good idea of where she might head next. Take some time to check out other releases by Kaylene if you enjoy discovering new artists, and follow her on social media to keep up with future music.
