Julandjim – “The 90’s, Evaporated”
Julandjim is a solo artist from Bordeaux, and his first release, The 90’s, Evaporated, feels like something he made for the fun of it. That’s what makes it work. He recorded it in his apartment using a vintage synth and a classical Spanish guitar, which already tells you it’s not overproduced or trying too hard. It’s loose, a little rough around the edges in a good way, and full of energy.
This is one of my favorite tracks of the week and it sounds like someone who grew up on that era and is now doing their own thing with it. There’s a mix of electronic, rock, and old-school rap vibes in here, and it all clicks together in a way that feels natural. It brings to mind nights where you’re not checking the time, just dancing in a dark room with a cheap drink in hand. There’s nothing polished about it, but it still gets under your skin and makes you want to move.
One thing that stood out was how unfiltered the whole thing felt. You can tell it wasn’t made in some expensive studio or run through layers of editing. That gives it a kind of charm you don’t get when everything’s too clean. It’s got personality. You either connect with it, or you don’t, and that’s a good thing.
If you like music with personality and a bit of edge, give this one a listen. Follow Julandjim on socials to stay in the loop for the rest of his 2025 releases.
