JHelix – “Upon The Earth”
JHelix is a Northeastern artist who has spent years blending electronic production with heavy, atmospheric rock. His new single “Upon The Earth” is his most guitar-forward release yet, and it hits with a kind of conviction that a lot of music these days is missing.
The track leans hard into classic alternative metal, thick riffs, a heavy atmosphere, and these almost chant-like refrains that stick with you. JHelix has been sharpening his chops as a metal guitarist, and it shows here. The song is about disconnection, the kind that comes from spending too much time in digital spaces and too little time in the real world. JHelix isn’t pointing fingers at any particular political camp. It reads more like someone who’s genuinely troubled by how far apart people have drifted from each other. The line about fighting amongst themselves while the soil is right there beneath your feet lands with some real weight. You don’t need him to spell it out.
The music video, shot with collaborator Mike Sal and edited by DavideoPro, does something interesting with the idea too. JHelix is caught between lush forests and pixelated chaos, and the collision of those two worlds mirrors exactly what the song is getting at. It’s a cohesive package, the visual and the audio are telling the same story.
This year is shaping up to be a big one for JHelix, with a full record in the works and a live band ready to bring it all to the stage. If “Upon The Earth” is any indication of where that project is headed, it’s worth paying attention. Follow him on social media to keep up with what’s coming next.
