Delta of Venus – “Disengaged b/w Slipping”

“Disengaged b/w Slipping” by Delta of Venus is one of the impressive tracks I heard in the last couple of weeks, from the sound to the atmosphere, Delta of Venus captures that dreamy Indie Pop/Shoegaze aesthetic perfectly, and the production is clean and professional.

“Disengaged” starts with a hazy guitar and Issy’s voice, which is haunting and personal at the same time, and “Slipping” igrooves with a bassline that’s impossible not to move to, wrapped in layers of shimmering reverb. The chemistry of the band is evident starting from Ellery’s guitar riffs to Shawn’s drums, and the lyrics are memorable, though plain, yet catchy like a dream you can’t quite recall.

The idea of the video based on the Joan of Arc character gives it a rebellious and contemporary feel; however, even with no video, these songs are good enough. Delta of Venus has that rare ability to make nostalgia feel fresh, and this double A-side is proof they’re onto something special.

Give yourself a treat and listen to “Disengaged b/w Slipping”, then go follow Delta of Venus because this is the kind of release that you will be listening to on repeat for days and recommending to your friends, your family, your neighbors, and everyone.
