Blackfox – “Blackfox4”
Blackfox’s new album Blackfox4 is a strong reminder of how much this band keeps evolving without losing its grip on solid songwriting. If you’ve followed them for a while, you’ll notice how the sound has grown. There’s a lot happening on this record, but it still feels tight and focused.
The opener, “Beaming”, hits right away with a ton of energy. Andy Gish’s vocals and guitars are front and center, and it sets the pace well. “She Died Inside” stands out too, it’s super catchy and has that upbeat, sharp sound that sticks with you, it makes sense that radio has been picking up on it. “Bring Your Fire” is rougher around the edges in a good way, and “Running Out of Danger” has some unexpected turns that make it fun to come back to. You can tell they put serious time into this, each part feels considered. Nothing is tossed in just to fill space. The guitar work is wide-ranging without being showy, and the band as a whole sounds locked in. Everyone contributes something that adds to the full picture.
If you haven’t heard Blackfox yet, this album is a solid place to start. Follow them on social media to catch what they’re doing next in 2025.
