Beyond Disdain – “Till Death Parts Us”

Beyond Disdain’s new album, “Till Death Parts Us”, is an 18-track beast of a record that hits hard. The Miami group builds on heavy riffs and dark mood to deliver a project packed with raw emotion. The cover art visual sets a spooky tone with its bright red backdrop, showing a woman staring right at a skeleton in a suit. It fits the whole vibe around memory, loss, and survival.

Looking over the whole tracklist, two favorites stand out immediately, “Bleeding Ever After” and “In The Riptide”. The full record plays like a movie. It channels the energy of classic early-2000s alternative metal and hard rock, taking cues from groups like Evanescence, Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, and Flyleaf. Selene Calder takes the lead vocals on most tracks, bringing a sharp edge to the heavy instrumentation. Isaiah Richards jumps in on tracks like “Thick of It” and “When I Sink”, giving the project a nice change of pace. The two share the mic on “Mirage”, creating a great balance. From the first moments of “The Lies Beneath” to the final second of the title track, “Till Death Parts Us”, the whole thing feels completely locked in.

It’s one of my favorite releases of the week and anyone just finding out about them needs to go listen to their older work, like their self-titled debut album and the “Bleeding Ever After” EP, to see how fast their sound has grown.
