Holylight – “everything goes”

“everything goes” by Dublin alt-rock outfit Holylight is my favorite of the week. Led by Alex Rosenberger, this project combines raw songwriting with a dense 90s grunge-gaze sound that fills the room completely.

The song explores the complicated feelings of watching time pass by, focusing on the strange comfort you find when a fast world keeps moving around you. It handles the small, quiet realisations of change, like the bittersweet moment your favourite barista gives you a coffee for the very last time, or suddenly noticing it has been two years since you thought about an old relationship you felt you would never overcome. Using a river as a central idea, the music follows the thought that resisting change only causes a fight against the current. If you just go with the stream, you can find a way to rest.

Alex Rosenberger brings an impressive level of musical skill to this release. Raised in Munich, she grew up playing piano, learned guitar from her dad, and then taught herself drums, bass, and vocals. After moving to Dublin for a master’s degree at Trinity College, she connected with bandmates Eden Matthews, Sarah Dexter, and Nathan O’Maoilearca, who help bring this huge sound to life.

I absolutely love this release because it balances a loud rock sound with real, vulnerable emotional depth. It is easily a standout track. You should definitely check out the previous Holylight releases, especially the 2024 debut EP “BeautyPain”, to see how this incredible sound has grown over time.

Make sure to follow Holylight on Instagram and Spotify to keep up with everything they are doing. This project has been moving fast through the Dublin music scene, winning contests and playing great live shows. They have a lot of momentum right now, and following them is the best way to ensure you do not miss any new music or announcements during the rest of this year.
