Redrama – “Did My Part”
Operating completely out of his home studio in Turku, Redrama is running his musical operation with absolute creative freedom. After years of major label deals with Sony and Universal, the Finnish musician is handling the songwriting, production, and instruments entirely on his own. His single “Did My Part”, released on 29th May 2026, puts that total independence on full display, blending hip hop with textures that pull from rock, jazz, funk, and country.
The groove of the track is anchored by a deep synth bassline that Redrama worked over until the pocket locked in perfectly. He moves past simple two chord loops, taking the arrangement into complex territory reminiscent of Quincy Jones. The track has an intentional edge, avoiding the sterile polish of mainstream pop to keep a bit of sonic danger in the mix. A standout moment is the raw guitar solo, a part he practiced a hundred times in his studio to get right.
The artwork captures that unpolished energy, showing a vibrant, hand drawn zig-zag pattern of bold blue, red, yellow, and green marker strokes, and this is why I love it. This visual match reflects the personal nature of the track. After getting clean and sober in 2022 and navigating a public rebuilding process, Redrama treats the song as an honest victory lap. It’s one of the best tracks I’ve heard this week so far.
I love this release because it sounds completely uncompromised and honest. If you appreciate music that has a genuine pulse and does not hide its rough edges, you should dive into Redrama’s previous releases to hear how his signature sound has developed over time. He is spending the summer of 2026 bringing this energy to major Finnish festivals, including the Tampere City Festival on 8th August. Make sure to follow Redrama on his official platforms to stay updated on what he creates in the rest of this year, as his journey of independence is bound to bring more excellent music.
