Lilia Asha – “Gaslighted”
Hope you’re having a relaxing Friday evening! Lilia Asha just released her third single “Gaslighted”, and it’s another step forward for the young UK and Shanghai-based singer-songwriter who continues to share honest stories through her music. Even though she is only fourteen, Lilia already writes with a strong sense of purpose, and that confidence comes across clearly in this release. To be honest, she is a talented young artist.
“Gaslighted” explores the painful experience of being manipulated by someone you once trusted, and the cello accompaniment adds a powerful layer to the song and gives it a cinematic atmosphere that supports the story she is telling. With production handled in Shanghai by Starcle Music and final touches completed in Sydney, the single comes together in a smooth and well-shaped way that highlights both the arrangement and Lilia’s voice.
The talented artist’s international upbringing across Malaysia, Tunisia, Myanmar, and China has clearly shaped her perspective. When you also consider that she began writing songs at eight and later won the Song Academy Young Songwriter Award, it becomes clear that music has been a serious passion for her from a very young age, and this is why I admire her music.
