Minnie – “Money”

Minnie is a rapper from Hawthorne who released her cover single “Money” back in August. She goes by Sharmayn in real life and writes all her own material. This track is about financial stability and the constant grind of trying to make ends meet.

Minnie recorded this at Zoom Studios in Koreatown along with nine other songs for a possible album. Minnie says Nicki Minaj inspired her to take music seriously as a career path. She wanted her first single to be mellow as an introduction before she really lets loose and shows her full energy.

The hook is simple, money to the left, money to the right. She built this around how people think about money constantly, whether they’re waking up, going through their day, or trying to fall asleep at night. I think she nailed that observation because it’s true. Minnie wanted to capture that everyday reality of needing financial stability, and she did.

She has the energy and work ethic to build a real career. She already has nine more songs ready to go, so check out her other material when it comes out. Follow Minnie on social media to keep up with her new releases.
