Le Concorde – “Second Mansions”

Le Concorde has been away from recording for fourteen years, but this return doesn’t sound hesitant at all. It’s clear from the first listen that he poured a lot into bringing this project to life, working with producer Calum Malcolm and a lineup of heavy hitters like Pino Palladino, Paul Jackson Jr., and Roger Joseph Manning Jr. That kind of talent usually brings pressure, but here it sounds natural, like everyone involved was on the same page. If I had to pick just one favorite track, that would definitely be “Saint Jude”.

The record taps into that classic ‘80s sophistipop style, and you can tell it’s been crafted with care. Tracks like “Morning by Morning”, “Therese of Lisieux”, and “Time Ticking Away” each stand out in their own way, balancing big, sweeping production with an undercurrent of spirituality and reflection. The influence of saints, city life, and ideas of redemption are not overbearing, they are woven into the songs in a way that makes the whole album feel both rich and unique, I’m pretty sure you will enjoy it.

I just love how “Second Mansions” manages to honor the past while sounding fresh. If you’re curious about where Le Concorde goes next, it’s worth keeping an eye on his social channels for more music in 2025.
