Zoe Konez – “Everything’s Fine”
Zoe Konez is a London-based singer-songwriter with over 5 million Spotify streams, BBC 6 Music support, and a Netflix sync placement last year in Love Is Blind. She’s done all of it independently. Her new album Everything’s Fine, 12 tracks written, recorded, produced, and performed entirely by her, is out now.
Zoe is one of the most talented artists I’ve come across in the last few days. Songs like Nudge are worn-out and reaching for connection. Yeah I Know is slower, gentler, more hopeful. The album shifts between those states without forcing a resolution, which is probably why it reads as honest rather than performed. My favorites are “I Don’t Want To Be Lonely Anymore” and “Friend like That”.
Fingerstyle acoustic guitar anchors everything, with layered vocal harmonies and found sounds woven in. Imperfect takes and room noise are kept in place rather than scrubbed out, giving the whole record a fragile, organic quality. It’s the kind of production choice that takes confidence, leaving the cracks visible because they’re actually part of it.
Everything’s Fine is out now on vinyl, CD, and digital. Give Zoe a follow on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to stay in the loop on new releases this year.
