Seasonal Falls – “Fun Crumbles”

Seasonal Falls just released a new EP Fun Crumbles, and it’s a solid shift from their earlier sound. There are five tracks, and they all bring something different without feeling disconnected. “Quiet Time” kicks things off and still holds some of that softer mood they’re known for. Then “I Should Be Sad But I Am No” picks up the pace, and it’s got this weirdly cheerful energy, which works. “A Year Without Beer” stands out too, short, catchy, and kind of funny in a dry way. “Australia” is the longest song on here, and it gives you a bit more room to sit with it. The closer, “All Alone”, wraps things up without getting too serious and it’s my favorite.
Nothing on this EP feels too cleaned up or overdone. You can tell they were just having a good time making music. It’s got a 90s indie vibe for sure, but it doesn’t sound like they’re trying to copy anyone. It’s more like those records you find and end up playing on repeat because they’re easy to hang out with.
There’s some reflection in the lyrics, stuff about growing up, family, getting stuck in your head, but it’s not trying to be deep. It feels like the kind of things that pop up in real life and just end up in songs.
If you haven’t listened to Seasonal Falls before, this is a good starting point. But their older stuff is worth checking out too. It’s more laid back, and it gives you a better sense of how they’ve changed over time. Go follow them on social media if you’re curious to hear what they do next.
