Seamus O’Muineachain – “Cage of Time”

Seamus O’Muineachain’s eighth album “Cage of Time” is his first fully written and performed on solo piano. Initially drafted digitally, Seamus scrapped those recordings and returned to the battered upright piano where the songs were born. The result is his rawest and most intimate work to date.

Created in Belmullet during a long period of waiting, the album reflects on how time shapes and traps us. Across ten tracks, “Far”, “Short Piece For Sleeping Lovers”, “Until The Lighthouse”, “Petrichor”, “Contemplate The Moon”, “Ponder”, “Rainwashing”, “Storms Over Achill”, “Auditorium”, and “Finally”, he keeps things unpolished, letting the imperfections of the piano become part of the storytelling.

Each track is a piece that deserves your full attention, shorter pieces like “Short Piece For Sleeping Lovers” and “Until The Lighthouse” capture fleeting moments, while longer tracks like “Ponder” give you room to sink in. Even the titles themselves suggest stillness and reflection, and the music follows through, offering a personal, understated experience that doesn’t feel rushed.
