Remit – “Questions Unanswered”

Remit’s “Questions Unanswered” is a confident and intense first album from the Naarm-Melbourne trio. Coming off the back of singles “Posthuman” and “Good Friends”, you can stream them down below, the record doesn’t feel like a random collection of songs. It’s got a clear sense of purpose, they wrote it in what they call their underground “concrete bunker”, and you can hear that environment all over the album. It’s dark, restless, and a bit claustrophobic in the best way.
The mix of rock, post-punk, and krautrock keeps things moving with a steady momentum, but what stood out to me was the honesty behind it. The band talks openly about grappling with heartbreak, railing against a world that feels broken, and searching for a way to heal in the middle of it all. It never comes across as preachy, just raw and direct. If I have to pick just one favorite, that will be super hard, but the one that stuck in my head all day is “My transformation”.
You can tell they’ve spent time building their name on the live circuit because the songs have that tight but unpolished energy. Recorded at Lily Street Studios with Simon Maisch and mastered by Don Bartley, it sounds like a band that knows what it wants to say. If you’re into music that has grit and heart, keep an eye on Remit and follow them on social media for what’s coming next in 2025.
