Reetoxa – “Dancing With Lou”

Reetoxa is the musical project led by Jason McKee, and “Dancing With Lou” brings a rush of unfiltered energy. Released off the album “Soliloquy,” the track captures a teenage awakening with clarity and grit.

Back in 1995, while radio was full of grunge, a fifteen-year-old McKee sat down with a friend’s dad who put on Lou Reed’s “The Blue Mask” on vinyl. That session opened a new world for him. It taught him that music did not need self-censorship or rigid rules. You could write about any subject, speak your mind, and lay your thoughts bare. That lesson stays at the core of this track.

Recorded at The Avenue studio in Cheltenham, the single lands right between classic rock grit and a rhythm made for dancing. McKee’s vocals carry an immediate, honest edge and the lineup features Peter Marin from JET on drums, with Kit Riley on bass and James Ryan on guitar, mixed and mastered by Simon Moro, the production keeps things punchy without stripping away the organic feel.

The song balances genuine vulnerability with heavy grooves. It relies on solid performances, authentic emotion, and straightforward storytelling, and the rhythm moves easily, making it easy to move along with it.
