Ratfink! – “About Ya”

Ratfink!’s latest drop “About Ya” is totally impressive, the production is so clean and I love it. This is a Melbourne duo, high school friends Liv and Raph, who have made something special with their DIY approach that somehow sounds anything but amateur. Their vocal harmony game is strong, with both members taking turns singing throughout the track in a way that feels natural and unforced. When I discovered the track a couple of days ago, I knew I must share it with you guys.

“About Ya” sits somewhere between indie rock and dream pop, with enough hooks to keep you coming back but enough depth to reward repeated listens. The intimate, slightly raw quality of the track is also a Brunswick share house influence, and you can hear their influence in the track. The thing that makes Ratfink! stand out from the crowded indie scene is that their storytelling feels so unique and rich, they’re not trying to be anything they’re not, just two friends making real music about real experiences, this is why we love duos in the first place.

Ratfink!’s honest approach to songwriting on “About Ya” is something I absolutely cannot get enough of and I’m already counting down the days until their upcoming album “WHEN U WERE MINE” drops later this year, so be sure to follow them across all social media platforms to stay updated on their journey and add this absolute gem to your daily rotation playlist right now.
