Nuk – “Jaw Dropping”

Nuk is an independent artist out of Lansdowne, and his new single “Jaw Dropping” is the kind of track that grabs your attention and holds it. Produced by excaliburbeats and recorded at Repercussion Studio in Fishtown, PA, this one has a real energy to it, the kind you can tell came from a genuine place rather than someone trying to manufacture a moment, and the backstory here adds a lot of texture to the listening experience.

Nuk put this together after dealing with fake industry contacts, people pretending to be A&Rs and wasting his time with phony business and that frustration comes through in the music, but it doesn’t drag the track into bitterness. If anything, it pushes the song into something more confident and self-assured, and Nuk has a bold, unapologetic presence that works really well here. The video, shot by Roze, matches the energy of the song nicely and gives the whole project a polished, intentional look that a lot of independent artists struggle to pull off. It’s clear a lot of care went into every part of this release.

Nuk is someone to keep a close eye on, because he’s got a distinct voice and he’s not trying to water anything down to fit in somewhere. More projects are reportedly on the way, so now is a great time to dig into any of his earlier work you might have missed. Make sure you’re following him so you don’t fall behind when the next drop comes.
