Mona Mio – “Upset”
“Upset” is my favorite track of the day. Mona Mio takes a very heavy subject and gives it real bite, building the track around anger, shame, social anxiety, and the ugly spiral of trying to shut everything off. You can hear that push and pull in the way the song is described, with softer moments rubbing against rougher guitar textures and ragga touches. That mix gives “Upset” a tense, restless energy that suits the subject really well.
As the third and final single from Into the Light, it reads like the breaking point of the whole project, the moment where bottled-up pain finally spills over. After the mental chaos of “Focus” and the frozen grief of “Can’t Be True”, “Upset” sounds like the raw nerve of the EP. That gives it extra force, because it is not only intense on its own, it also sounds like a key part of a larger emotional arc.
The part that stays with me most is how direct it all is. Mona Mio does not frame this struggle in a neat or pretty way. The song is about self confrontation, destructive habits, and trying to reclaim control when your own mind turns against you. That honesty gives “Upset” real impact. In my opinion, this is her strongest release so far. Go check out “Focus” and “Can’t Be True”, follow Mona Mio, and keep an eye on Into the Light.
