Melancholic Punk – “Million Ways”
Melancholic Punk is an artist worth paying attention to, and “Million Ways”, the third single off the upcoming debut album Moonologue, is a good reason why.
The song has a quiet confidence to it. Guitar and voice up front, with bass, piano, drums, and a tuba sitting low underneath, none of it competing for your attention. That restraint is harder to pull off than it sounds. A lot of artists in this space would have overproduced something like this into oblivion. This one knows when to hold back.
The origin of the recording is interesting too. It started as a scratch take, no real intention of keeping it. But the hesitations and the breaths and the general uncertainty of the moment ended up being the whole point. Every time they tried to re-record it properly, something got lost. So they left it and I think that was the right call. The lyrics came out of a collaboration with actress Raluca Aprodu, and this is the third time the two have worked together on a Melancholic Punk release. You can tell the partnership has settled into something natural. The words don’t sound grafted on, they sit in the melody like they’ve always been there.
“Million Ways” is about presence, the quiet, unannounced way another person can change everything and it’s a simple idea, and the song trusts it completely. Follow Melancholic Punk on social media to keep up with new releases as Moonologue gets closer to its November 2026 arrival.
