Today, I’m so excited to share with you Matthew Kowalski’s latest EP. titled “2, 3, 4”, From start to finish, this release is an absolute jam, showcasing a perfect balance of planning and spontaneity. The live recordings, which were done in two takes per song, really make it feel very real and raw and allow the talent of everyone involved to come through. Johnny Santini, Jon Letorneau, and Ryan Kowal were major contributors to the EP’s sound, and their chemistry is undeniable. You can feel the energy, especially with the influence of vibraphonists like Stefon Harris and Joel Ross, and the saxophonist Steve Lehman’s impact on the overall vibe.
