Killing Kind – “Being Human”
Killing Kind is a Swedish band that started out as a small project during the pandemic, and Being Human is their second album. It’s a darker and heavier step from their 2023 debut, and you can hear how much more confident they sound as a full band now. The mix of post‑punk, synth pop, and goth feels natural here, like they’ve settled into a direction that suits them.
The album brings a mood that fits the current moment without making it feel forced. The sci-fi and horror influence in the writing gives it some edge, but it still comes across in a grounded way. It’s eleven songs that sit well together, and nothing feels out of place. My favorite track of the album is “Warriors and Carpenters”.
They recorded the album at Sunlight Studio with producer Tomas Skogsberg, who’s known for working with death metal acts. That gives the record a thicker, rougher base which works nicely with the synths and the more atmospheric parts. The core members Björn Norberg, Mats Wigerdal, and Mats Molund sound tight. The guest spots from Cecilia Germain, Lidija Radmilac, Måns Hartman, and Ernst Erlanson add some extra layers.
“Desperately Holding On,” the first single, already got attention earlier this year. The rest of the album keeps that level steady. Follow Killing Kind on social media to keep up with what they release next in 2025.
