Izzy Burns – “Diary of a Hopeless Romantic”

Izzy Burns’ album “Diary of a Hopeless Romantic” is my favorite album of the month. Based out of Moscow, Idaho, Izzy brings a super grounded, folk-influenced style that pulls straight from her own life. The album is literally built from her diary, with each song tied to a moment in her early twenties, figuring stuff out, navigating heartbreak, and trying to grow through all the mess of that phase of life.

The backstory behind the project makes it even more interesting. She ended up working with Mellad Abeid after randomly meeting him on a flight, and that led to a full-on collaboration at Bear Creek Studios. Taylor James Carroll produced the record, and you can tell there was a strong creative team behind it. The process wasn’t just her handing over songs, it was all of them sitting together, jamming and building each track as a group, that energy shows up in the final result.

Tracks like “Recovery” hit with a really honest mix of humor and vulnerability. Personally, “Recovery” is my favorite, it captures that weird, messy in-between space after a breakup in a way that really sticks. If you’re into music that actually says something real, this is worth checking out. Follow Izzy on socials, she’s definitely got more coming in 2025.
