Dark City Kings – “Champions of Tomorrow’s Fun”

Dark City Kings impresses me with their new EP, titled “Champions of Tomorrow’s Fun”, and it’s exactly the kind of release that can turn you into a fan. Coming out of Black Mountain, they’ve managed to take all the energy from their past work and channel it into something that feels both grounded and exciting. The title track is playful and sharp, and can easily stick in your head after one listen. I just love it, and I was excited to share it with you today.

The second single, “Atmosphere”, shifts things in a different direction, it’s got that cool, post-punk tone, almost distant, but still memorable in its own way. The balance between the two songs really gives the EP personality, showing they’re not afraid to mix moods while keeping things accessible. It’s safe to say that the release shows how talented Dark City Kings are.

What makes this even more interesting is knowing where it came from, written late at night in a homestead in the Southern Appalachians with producer Kevin Moloney guiding the process. You can hear that sense of purpose in every note. Follow Dark City Kings on social media, you’ll want to know what they do next in 2025.
