Andrew Moore and Hooch – “Mountain”

“Mountain” brings a genuinely refreshing energy to country and Americana, offering 13 tracks recorded live across five studios, including Nashville’s legendary Sound Stage Studios. Andrew Moore wrote every single lyric and melody on this release, drawing straight from real life, and that personal touch comes through right away. It’s safe to say it’s one of the best albums I discovered this month so far.

Having co-producers like Jason Groves, Justine Blazer, Nick Autry, and golf legend John Daly at the helm helped weave everything into a rich, complete experience. Two tracks stand out as clear favorites. First, “Tyrant” features John Daly alongside Grammy winner Dan Tyminski. It hits hard and leaves a lasting impression. Then there is “Peace Love and Harmony (Live at the Record Shop)”, which slows things down for a direct, bold plea to stop world hatred and treat each other with simple kindness. Producer Justine Blazer did a fantastic job capturing its unfiltered, honest vision.

Beyond those two highlights, the tracklist keeps up an awesome momentum from start to finish. “Tasmanian Devil” brings a fun twist where drummer Matthew Skaggs suggested an all-vocal chorus, using random noisemakers found in a studio closet to build its catchy layer. “Sex in a Silverado” captures genuine storytelling born from a bandmate’s real memory. With other strong entries like “Ford Tough Chevy Strong,” “Heart of a Father”, “Misbehaving and Fun”, and “Smile on my Face,” the whole album feels deeply rooted, fun, and genuine. Every track plays its part well, showing off a group of friends who truly enjoy making real music together without any fake polish.
