Scatterchild – “FRUSTRATOR”

Scatterchild are a band from Manchester known for catchy hooks and sharp songs that fans describe as sad yelling. Their new single, Frustrator, came out on October second via Bread Records. It is a loud and heavy track that wastes no time making noise and grabbing your attention.

The song hits you right away with loud keyboards and fast drums driving the beat. Jay Plent uses his vocals to shout over the pain, singing about trusting someone who uses that closeness to hurt you, and then punishing yourself afterward. The energy matches the live version they debuted at a packed Manchester venue, capturing the group at their most aggressive since their older track Parallel Lines.

Drawing inspiration from Radiohead, The Voidz, and Linkin Park, the song builds on the grand scale of their June release, New Ocean. Earlier this year, that release launched with a sold-out visual performance at HOME in Manchester. Recorded at Voltalab Sound Studios and mastered by Pete Maher, Frustrator acts as a great preview for their upcoming album, Different Oceans Alone. If you want to see them perform live, they play a headline show at The Rat and Pigeon in Manchester on October twenty-eighth.
