C’batch – “I Guess You Want It This Way”

C’batch has a new six-song EP out on Stevette Music titled “I Guess You Want It This Way”. The main song has been in the works for about 26 years. His wife Yvette, who is from Jamaica, originally asked him to make a reggae song. He tried writing one back then and even put an early recording together with pictures from a Jamaica trip, but it still felt incomplete.

The chorus line and main melody stuck in his mind for over two decades. This year, he finally sat down, wrote lyrics to fit that old melody, and finished what he started long ago. The EP is dedicated to legendary Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin, whom C’batch met at Heathrow Airport in 2001. As a fellow guitarist, C’batch wanted to show respect to a major musical inspiration.

This release is part of his 2026 “Year of the Vault” series, where he goes through old tapes to finish unreleased ideas. Hearing six different takes on one core idea makes for a really cool listen. Make sure to follow C’batch on social media to hear more of his new music as it comes out this year.
