Chet Nordy – “For You”

I gave “For You” by Chet Nordy featuring Josh Paulino a spin, and it clicked with me right away. The song finds a nice spot between a soft acoustic tune and a full rock ballad that feels real and down to earth. It’s safe to say it’s the best release I;ve discovered this week.

This track actually started as an acoustic song written 15 years back for a wedding, and turning it into a bigger rock love song gives it plenty of heart. Everything fits together nicely, from the catchy guitar lines to the big chorus you can sing along with on your first listen. Singer Josh Paulino delivers a great vocal performance, putting deep feeling into lines like “Put your hand in mine, this is our time,” which hits in a genuinely sweet way. It’s one of those records that makes you feel every lyric.

What makes this release cool is how it was made. Chet Nordy built his own studio, Nordy Studios, down in his basement in Freeland, Michigan, and played every single instrument himself. You can tell how much work he put into every beat and guitar riff. Instead of using cheap computer tricks, the track stays grounded with real instruments and a simple message about sticking together through good times and bad times. The song ends with some lovely acoustic guitar playing that brings everything back home for a calm, pleasing wrap-up. It feels like a passion project that turned out just right.
