Steve Montgomery is back under his SkipRock Music banner, and his nine track album “Living The Dream Right Now” brings a pure, bright boost of energy. Recorded out in BC, the record showcases classic rock energy, straightforward guitar driven songwriting, and power pop hooks. Right from the moment the opening guitar riff of “Crazy Town” hits during its 03:44 duration, there is an immediate focus on real songwriting and real guitars.

Four of my personal favorites on this collection are “Crazy Town”, “Cinnamon”, “Sweet Sweet Summertime”, and the big closer “I Gotta Rock!” which stretches out across a full 04:30. The music builds on the melodic side heard on earlier records like Alone In A Room and Hwy 3A, while keeping the volume turned up high just like on Shut Up And Rock and Time To Rock!. Every track carries an upbeat spirit that feels honest, direct, and completely natural, and everything comes together on “I Gotta Rock!”, wrapping up a whole set that reminds us how loud, fun, and alive great rock music can be.

I am completely in love with this release, and Steve created a genuine masterpiece that deserves a permanent spot in heavy rotation on your main stereo setup.
