Motihari Brigade – “Problematic”

Motihari Brigade just put out a new album titled Problematic, and it lands exactly when we need some unfiltered rock-n-roll. This is the third album from guitarist and songwriter Eric Winston, who named the band after the birthplace of George Orwell. Fittingly, the album came out right on Orwell’s birthday, June 25.

The tracks actively encourage independent critical thinking. The music relies on real human musicians playing with genuine energy, tackling heavy ideas like mass propaganda, censorship, and artificial intelligence. It plays out almost like a dystopian science fiction movie soundtrack.

The tracks go together with purpose. It kicks off with “Cowboy Armageddon” and slides into the groovy title track. A standout moment is “Chatbot Don’t Like It”, which mixes human and machine sounds to poke fun at our tech obsession. Later on, “The Hubris March” links “Heedless Of The Storm” and “Ten Years Time” into a mini rock opera about the cycle of war, featuring a loud, de-tuned Fender Stratocaster simulating battlefield sounds. They even throw in a heavy cover of “Fortunate Son” to drive the point home. It finishes up with a planetarium space satellite soundscape on “Someone’s Dream”.

The whole thing feels alive, defiant, and completely authentic. You can grab Problematic now on digital streaming platforms or compact disc. Make sure to follow Motihari Brigade on their social media pages to get all their updates and new release news this year.
