Miles Away – “Concrete Cuts”

Miles Away just put out a debut album titled Concrete Cuts on IKIGAI MUSIC, which is a new label started by SABAI. It is a concept album that follows two childhood friends who run into each other after years of growing apart. They have to face old memories and see how their lives actually turned out compared to what they used to think would happen.

The sound mixes melodic electronic parts with acoustic textures, tape elements, and industrial sounds. It looks at what people lose by growing up and what looking back can teach them. Every single song stands for a different moment or memory in life. For instance, Younger Years goes into the freedom and excitement of being young, while Vertigo looks at those lingering “what if” moments.

As you get further into the tracklist, things get a bit more reflective. The songs Childhood Bedroom and Dream Atrophy deal with the gap between childhood dreams and adult reality. The whole story shows that while looking back can be comforting, it can also keep you stuck.

If you want to keep up with Miles Away and make sure you do not miss any new music or updates later this year, head over to social media and give them a follow.
