Kavé – “Unravel”

I just spent a lot of time listening to Unravel, the debut track from London musician Alex Kos under his solo project Kavé. This track bypasses the standard verse and chorus structure entirely. Instead, it unfolds like a sequence of vivid scenes. The whole thing is built around layered guitar textures, drifting electronic elements, and a slow progression that creates tension before releasing it.

You can hear a massive mix of styles pulling this together, from dream pop and progressive rock to house music and film scores. It all blends into a moody soundscape that grows in power as the track moves forward. The song acts as a first transmission from a sci-fi world set in the year 2325, where a stranded traveler sends radio signals back to Earth. The traveler is marooned on a failed human colony, sending these mixtapes in the hope of reaching survivors. The project invites people to imagine another way of living beyond a technology-saturated dystopia. This universe is supported by original visual artwork and short films that will continue to expand.

Personally, I think this is a fantastic introduction. It is an immersive experience that makes you want to close your eyes and picture your own landscapes. It functions as an invitation into a massive, developing world. The atmosphere is incredibly heavy, and the way the different layers build up makes it a track you want to play on loop to catch all the tiny details. It is rare to find a debut that feels this complete and sure of its own direction. I am genuinely excited to see where the project goes from here.

You should check out the artist’s previous releases to see where this project is coming from. Make sure to follow Kavé to stay updated about new releases in the rest of this year.
