E.Z.O. – “Fiend”

Brooklyn artist E.Z.O. recently put out a track that gives a refreshing look at handling relationship conflict. The song, titled Fiend, dropped right at the start of May and captures that smooth nostalgia of early 2000s R&B. It channels the exact kind of soulful, laid back vibe you would expect from classic acts like Donnell Jones or Jagged Edge, combining a relaxed party rhythm with real storytelling.

Recorded at Record House in Astoria alongside local artists like Raydeo and Safa, the track has a warm, grounded energy, and E.Z.O. wrote the lyrics himself and paired up with producer Hennen Beats, a talent he found digging through Beatstars. Together with engineer Mark Matter, they created something that flows naturally while pushing creative boundaries.

The core of the track is all about rising above assumptions, moving past the drama, and looking toward greener pastures. It feels like a breath of fresh air, mirroring the renewal of springtime. It also sets a great foundation for his upcoming album, Suburban urban, by linking together the common threads from his previous 2000s vibe project into a much bigger story.

This track hits a perfect sweet spot between classic R&B nostalgia and a modern perspective. The vocal delivery is smooth, and the message about stepping away from relationship drama feels honest, and it makes me really excited to see what else he has in store for his summer plans. You should definitely check out his previous releases to hear how his sound has grown. Make sure to follow E.Z.O. to stay updated about new releases in the rest of this year.
