Keller Leggett – “Ms.Tennessee”
Keller Leggett is 18 years old and already writing songs that feel lived in. That’s not a small thing. Ms. Tennessee is his debut EP, and it hits with the kind of quiet confidence you’d expect from someone who grew up absorbing The Lumineers and Indigo Girls without any apparent desire to just copy them. Keller is a talented artist who deserves your full attention.
The title track is the heart of the EP. It’s built around a relationship that moves with the seasons, fall is when things were good, winter is when everything started to slip, and spring is where he’s placing his hope. My personal favorites are “Honeysuckle”, “Freshman Fifteen”, “Ms. Tennessee”, and the brief but quietly affecting “Wait for the Birds”. That last one clocks in at under a minute, 46 seconds to be exact, and somehow does more in that time than a lot of artists manage in four. “Ms. Tennessee” itself runs just under three minutes at 2:55, and it doesn’t waste a second of it. Keller’s songwriting pulls from folk roots but doesn’t feel dated. You can hear Jeremy Zucker’s influence in how the production is shaped, a modern alt-pop sensibility that keeps things from getting too acoustic-open-mic about it.
For me, this is a pretty strong first statement for an artist who clearly has more to say. If you’re just finding him now, go back and check out anything he put out before this. And follow Keller Leggett now, because if this is his starting point, the rest of 2026 is going to be worth paying attention to.
