Helgar – “ABSURD”

Helgar’s new track “ABSURD” doesn’t waste time, it jumps right in and feels wired from the beginning, like something’s on edge and about to snap. It’s loud, a bit chaotic, and pretty relentless, but it all makes sense, and you can tell it came from a real place, and it sounds like it was made by someone who needed to let something out.

The mix of live drums and electronic parts gives it an unstable kind of energy, and the guitar stabs hit in a way that cuts through everything else. Even when it takes sharp turns or gets noisy, the track doesn’t fall apart. There’s always something keeping it on track. That balance between control and collapse matches the headspace behind it. It came from frustration about how fast things are falling apart in the world, and that tension is all over the song.

It’s really one of the best releases I’ve discovered this year so far, and I was excited to share it with you. If this is the direction Helgar is going in, I’m all in. Go follow Helgar on social media so you don’t miss what’s coming next year. There’s probably more worth checking out.
