Noella Rain – “Running Dry”
Noella Rain just released her new single “Running Dry”, and this one hit hard. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter wrote this track during her freshman year at Berklee College of Music after a close friend suddenly cut her out of her life. You can tell she was hurting when she wrote it because the emotion pours out in every line.
She teamed up with her producer Jeff Gruber at Blue House Productions in Maryland to record this acoustic piece. The song is about caring way more about someone than they care about you, and always being the one who gives more in a relationship. She wrote it while crying in her studio apartment in Boston, and honestly, you can hear that vulnerability. The lyrics really capture that frustration and exhaustion. She has this line about her voice being like a match in the rain, watering dead gardens, and another about how her heart would probably function better inside than on her sleeve but she’d rather suffer than bury it. Those lines stick with you because they’re so honest about how draining it is to love people who don’t return it.
This is the last single before her third album “Land of The Night” comes out, so if you connect with “Running Dry”, go listen to her other work. You’ll want to follow Noella Rain on social media to stay updated on the new album and whatever she releases next.
