James Shumway – “So Glad You’re Mine”

James Shumway’s latest instrumental, “So Glad You’re Mine”, is one of those songs that hits in a really grounded way. He originally wrote it as something personal for a life partner, and now it’s out in two versions: a solo piano recording and another with strings added in. Both versions feel honest. It’s not dramatic or trying too hard. It’s more like someone looking back on a relationship and genuinely appreciating the life they’ve built.

The piano on its own says a lot already, but the version with strings adds a bit of depth that works well. You can tell he’s been doing this for a long time and that he cares about getting it right. This is his fourth instrumental release, following others like “IOU”, “Regrets”, and “To the One I Love”, which got some recognition at a few international competitions. That makes sense. His writing is clear and doesn’t feel overdone.

If you’re into instrumental music that actually means something, give this one a listen. And if you want to know what he puts out next, follow him on social media to keep up with the rest of his 2025 releases.
